Mount: 21 3/8 x 16 3/4 inches Inscribed below image on recto in ink "Presented to Elmira Country Club by Hon. and Mrs. J. Sloat Fassett, 1898. Club Championship Match Play." The Strathmont Championship in Elmira NY is believed to the be the oldest continuously played golf club championship in the US. The original course was built by Elmira businessman and politician J. Sloat Fassett, who was introduced to the game during a visit to Scotland in the 1890s.
